1ST LT, INFANTRY

US ARMY

REPUBLIC OF VIETNAM

DEC 1969 - DEC 1970
Hello,

I'm John Kieffer.

I am an infantry lieutenant and rifle platoon leader. My mission is to rendezvous with you in the next 24 hours (or ASAP) to provide you a debriefing of several events that occurred during my combat tour in Vietnam.

Within this mission, you will role-play a member of my platoon and serve in some designated capacity within it.

The following "Warning Order" [a fragment of the "Operations Order" (Op Order) which specifically details the "who, what, where and when" of the mission] will instruct how to proceed in advance of our upcoming rendezvous:

WARNING ORDER

1. SITUATION: You are an infantry squad member in 2nd Platoon, B Company, 1/61st Infantry (Mechanized), 1st Brigade, 5th Infantry Division operating within an AO just south of the Demilitarized Zone, I Corps, Republic of Vietnam.

2.
MISSION: Understand what that means.

3. EXECUTION: The links to the left contain information vital to your mission; recon each site beginning with “1. Intro” and proceed sequentially through the numbered links (allocate approximately 3-5 minutes to each link). Complete a debriefing questionnaire found in the final link when you have completed your reconnaissance.

4. SERVICE SUPPORT: Internet connected computer, note taking materials.

5. COMMAND AND SIGNAL: Your course instructor will designate command posts (CPs) and communication SOPs (Standard Operating Procedure) throughout mission.
